Dunapack Packaging Romania, together with Hamburger Recycling Romania, sponsors the equipment of the Integrated Waste Management Laboratory of UBB

Dunapack Packaging and Hamburger Recycling have contributed together this year to the equipment of the Integrated Waste Management Laboratory of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering of "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj. The students will now have the opportunity to learn and improve their skills in proper waste management.

The most significant purchase is the W8 laboratory scale anaerobic digester, Armfield, which will be used to study anaerobic biodegradation processes of organic waste (including food waste). In addition to this apparatus, the following equipment was purchased: the WTW 3630 IDS SET G Multiparameter, the thermoreactor for determining chemical oxygen consumption (COD), the respirometric sensor system and associated incubator, used for determining biochemical oxygen content (BOD), the potentiometric titrator - Model titroline5000, for the determination of volatile acids and the portable in-situ emission meter.

”Since Sustainability is one of Dunapack Packaging core values, we decided to get involved in this project of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering of the UBB. Given the fact that the resources of our planet are limited, we hope to have contributed by our donation to the education and research in the field of waste management” , said Cristian Indreica, Cluster Managing Director, Dunapack Packaging România.

The laboratory was inaugurated on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021. The inauguration was attended by the sponsors’ representatives, the pro-rector Conf. univ. dr. Christian Săcărea, the dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering, Lect. dr. Nicolae Ajtai and the laboratory responsible, Lect. Dr. Cristina Modoi.
